I finally had an idea about how to implement A.I. functions. And so far it works great. Although I had some 'intelligence' programmed (see
Youtube RSR dev 1), I rewrote that to fit the new design. Now, the Russians will sail away from torpedos, and evade torpedos homing from them. Subs will even go to the opposite layer. Ships and subs now ping occasionally, and, subs will perform 'Crazy Ivans' !
I've got a whole weekend to implement more and will thus do so. They still don't fire at me ;) Once that is largely done, I'll focus on single missions. Or maybe I'll just start on both this weekend, who knows :P
Also I sped up the game using more assembler routines for the drawing (I tell ya, DirectX is a bitch if you want just plain 2D...))
I changed the background color of the map and tried to get it even more fancier, but, well, failed at that. Or maybe not. I just didn't like what I got in the end...
